Hempfield Dance Theatre
It began with a dream.
Then it became a mission.
Now, it's a tradition.
Hempfield Dance Theatre-----dedicated to the arts and practiced in the art of success! Giving students the opportunity to experience their creative self, Ms. Patricia Kautter has established one of the most successful dance theatre programs in the Hempfield Dance Theatre.
Taking over one hundred largely untrained student dancers, each year Ms. Kautter has directed and choreographed performances that culminate in triumphant greatness. The countless hours of practice in the never ending quest for perfection results in a phenomenal performance that rewards the students and the audience as well. Pushing one's self to the next level, working with other performers to achieve a goal, moving creatively beyond themselves----this is what Dance Theatre has done for the performers, supporting crew, and the legions of dedicated parents.
HDT celebrates the art of music, motion, and movement with excellence. Its success is legendary throughout the region and is undoubtedly the biggest extracurricular activity in the Hempfield School District and generates community wide anticipation, excitement, and enthusiasm.
Remarkably, it is a self-funded program which means the dancers help raise the funds needed to produce this spectacular performance. Students and parents give of their time, talent, and energy to create a celebration of life. Students anxiously await the list of dancers who made Dance Theatre. They check daily if not every period of the day to see the cast for new numbers, and they listen eagerly for any changes in the practice schedules.
For twenty-five years, Ms. Kautter has taken ordinary students and turned them into graceful athletic performers and choreographed their performance to reflect the human pathos. From Passages to Games, An American Odyssey, Rock the Ages,Things That Go Pop!!,and most recently, Light Years, Hempfield Dance Theatre is a CELEBRATION OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT. It has given students the chance to dream and fulfill their dreams...and it has taught them the lessons of perseverance, dedication, teamwork, and excellence.
Mahout enthusiastically supports the contributions of Ms. Kautter, Cody Smith, Kristin Pontz, and Heather Bare in providing not only the Hempfield students, but the Hempfield community with that Dancing Spirit, the celebration of humanity, and the human passion for life.
